As many people search for both investment opportunities and ways to positively impact the environment, the opportunities abound, thanks to Panama Teak plantations. We are United Teak and we want to show you that with Panama Teak, you truly can help change the world.

Seeing the need
Deforestation has been occurring for centuries; as man looked to the soil for food, trees were cleared for farm land. When houses were no longer constructed of mud and rock, trees were felled for lumber. As more ships set sail on the open seas, Teak forests were cut to provide the beautiful and durable wood that adorned theirs decks. This use of wood has had a devastating effect; rampant deforestation has caused many forests, and especially the tropical rainforests, to disappear at an alarming rate. These forests have not been able to meet the overwhelming demand and replenish themselves, leaving once expansive tropical forests little more than barren soil.

The stakes in this problem have been rising as well. As tree cover diminishes and pollution increases, there has been a substantial increase in “greenhouse gases”. Trees are excellent for removing such elements from the air and helping to stave off the effects of global warming. That is precisely the problem; less trees means less filtering of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, which leads to their increase. It is very likely that by removing our trees we are removing the first line of defense for our environment!
